Do you have the software development/deep technical background necessary to maintain Amazon as the premier player in cloud computing and web services technology?As a Technical Writer in Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will have the exciting opportunity work with a stellar technical team to produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

To enable this, the technical publications team plays a vital role in getting our customers up and running quickly and making sure that the details of our products are clearly described easy to consume and follow.

The ideal candidates have both a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and produce documentation for web services, SDKs, or API libraries
  • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for AWS products
  • Write or manipulate code samples to support documentation
  • Work with an editor on grammar, style, and form

Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years in a technical writing or lead writing role
  • Proven experience using and following MSTP
  • Proven experience designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation
  • Experience using multiple documentation tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles
  • Experience working with a programming language such as C#, Java, PHP, or Ruby etc.
  • Experience with XML-based publishing systems
  • A thorough understanding of software development (SDLC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field highly desirable
  • Some experience with web services and related technologies a plus
  • Previous experience working in an agile programming environment a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience working directly with development teams
  • Strong grammar skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
  • Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
