Full-Time Technical Writer (Portland, OR)

Elemental is seeking a seasoned technical writer to deliver a unified voice across the company’s technical documentation, educational materials and marketing collateral. The technical writer will exhibit cross-team cooperation, a passion for writing and strong attention to detail.

As a Technical Writer, you will:
- Produce clear and concise end-user publications in a timely manner
- Convey technical material that may be intended for use by both technical and non-technical audiences
- Create, write and publish material including but not limited to: product documentation, installation guides, release notes, RFPs/RFIs, technical briefs, whitepapers, user training manuals and technical workflows
- Organize, manage, distribute, maintain and update Elemental technical documentation
- Work closely with product management to create/maintain software API/SDK documents
- Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other writers or personnel as well as re-writing and editing existing documentation
- Prepare layout of material and graphics for publication
- Oversee activities associated with documentation projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that reviews and approvals are acquired
- Perform document quality assurance by reviewing and editing materials for accuracy, consistency and detail
The successful implementation of this position requires, at a minimum:
- 3 years of technical writing experience or related discipline
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree (highly preferred but not required)
- Ability to work easily in cross functional teams and communicate clearly to all stakeholders including customers and partners
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Sharp writing skills – ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Excellent interpersonal and general business communication skills.
- Strong time management, organization and self-management skills
Additional strengths include:
- Understanding of video technology
- Technical and/or product marketing writing experience in IT software or related field
- Ability to learn, use and explain new software (i.e. web and client-based applications, cloud-based architectures)
- Exposure to documentation and diagram tools
