Overview:
Heartland Payment Systems needs a new technical writer for our growing Technical Publications Team. We’re looking for a great writer, with a great attitude, who is willing to work hard and to make a difference for our customers. We like to have fun, and you should too. The team enjoys a flexible work environment, with occasional telecommuting available. Results are what matter most.
Responsibilities:
Work as a part of team to create technical documentation for Heartland’s products and services.
Tools we use:
MadCap Flare
Adobe tool suite (specifically FrameMaker, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Captivate)
Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
Rally (for Agile project management)

Qualifications:
Required:
University or college degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or other degree with a writing-intensive curriculum.
At least three years of technical writing experience.
Experience with structured documentation (DITA preferred).
Demonstrated ability to research, write, and peer edit concise technical documents.
Great verbal communication skills.
Able to plan, schedule, and complete tasks while under deadline.
Excellent time management skills, self-motivated, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. If you like to be micromanaged, this isn’t the place for you.
Proven ability to work with teams, including software developers and various subject matter experts.
A strong software-related background with previous experience in documenting software products for PCs and mobile devices.
Solid understanding of the software development life cycle.
Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects and react positively to changes in scope, priorities, and schedule.
Flexibility. Things can get a bit crazy around here, and we need someone who can jump in and help us push things out the door. When the backlog gets restacked, we need someone that can change gears on the fly.
