Technical Writer (Chicago, IL)

Job Description

Our client is the worlds’ leading computer components manufacturer, looking for a Documentation / QA Engineer with good understanding and of IT and cloud environment, hands-on experience on OS, general enterprise software products and cloud services, good communication and (English) documentation skills to provide customer documentation and video recording pertaining to an enterprise software products.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Create use cases, reference documentation, and white papers, video recording for an enterprise software product.
  • Obtain in-depth knowledge of software products by interviewing subject matter experts and research product features
  • Perform product installation, configuration and use case tests to ensure accuracy of documentation and improve product quality and usability
  • Work closely with QA, Engineering, and Product management to identify and document product features and user scenarios


  • Desktop Publishing, Advanced
  • Framemaker, Advanced
  • Networking Protocols, Intermediate
  • Product QA, Intermediate

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience with IT administration, writing and editing IT documentation or other relevant experience
  • BA or BS in computer engineering, or Technical Communication or other related fields
  • Strong hands-on experience with IT systems, products and cloud services
  • Working experience in Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Acrobat for generating PDF documentation
  • Familiarity with the bugzilla or other bug tracking systems
  • Familiarity with SVN or other version control systems
  • Familiarity with Adobe RoboHelp for generating help systems or other help system a plus
  • Wiki editing experience a plus
  • Familiarity with virtual machines, OSs, networking, REST APIs, XML-based technology, Web Security, SSL, and SOAP-based web services a plus
