JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Writer contributing to the development, revision and maintenance of medical device labeling—primarily manuals, instructions-for-use, product labels, and package labeling. Strong technical writing skills emphasizing clear and accurate communication, a command of the written English language and experience managing multiple projects is required; as is a demonstrated proficiency with computer tools including word processors, page layout, illustration and image manipulation programs. The action-oriented applicant must be self-motivated, show concern for detail, and understand technical communications and document control in a regulated industry

OUTCOMES: The successful candidate will:
Develop, revise and maintain medical device labeling (primarily technical and instructional materials including manuals, instructions, and product and package labeling) aimed at technical and/or end-users (clinicians and service personnel).
Work with product managers, project leaders, and other associates to determine labeling requirements as they relate to the various products.
Obtain the information needed to create materials for assigned products and projects.
Actively participate in the documentation release and change order processes.
Assure that materials are produced to design, material and quality specifications by internal resources and external suppliers.
Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of labeling.
Support product labeling translation efforts as required to help the team deliver on time.
Help to keep projects on track, tracking progress and eliminating roadblocks.
Perform duties within the requirements of the quality system and other regulations.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a communications-related or engineering discipline. Technical or clinical training highly desired.

EXPERIENCE:
Five or more years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices.
Strong research and information gathering skills.
Fluency in technical communications software tools, including Adobe FrameMaker, PhotoShop, and Illustrator.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities requiring interaction.
Understanding of document organization, technical writing styles, editing, copywriting, proof reading, and research techniques.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Limited travel (0-5%). Requires demonstrated proficiency in reading, basic math and use of office standard equipment – including computer. Requires the ability to perform in a sedentary work environment (e.g. office) that may occasionally require lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds.
