Full-Time Technical Writer (Baltimore, MD)

Job Description

General Description: The Technical Writer will support Innovations Development Program activities that include landscape analyses, literature reviews, technology overviews, and synthesis of innovation opportunities for priority health areas. Technical Writer will work closely with technical, engineering, programmatic, and field staff within Jhpiego and with partner organizations, as appropriate. Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with clinical, program, and engineering staff to identify, organize, and synthesize literature, program reports, and existing knowledge base in comprehensive landscape analyses for identified priority health areas
  • Contribute to research and development tasks that include but are not limited to: literature reviews; research on specific products and their utilization in low-resource settings; global initiatives and policy guidelines related to specific interventions or technologies; scale-up strategies and case studies within and outside Jhpiego
  • Engage multi-disciplinary teams within Jhpiego and with partner organizations, as appropriate, toward assigned deliverables and milestones
  • Identify, through landscape analyses development and discussions, key innovation gaps that may include but are not limited to: technology; training; research; program; commercialization or business models
  • Ensure that inputs from Jhpiego technical staff and field advisors toward collaborative projects with other organizations are timely and well-organized
  • Maintain rigorous organization of research and development documents and decisions
  • Proactively communicate with Innovations Team the progress and challenges in the assigned activities
  • Contribute to the development of novel knowledge management and sharing tools and processes
  • As relevant and appropriate, contribute to development of presentations, and report development
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2+ years writing experience, preferably in technical/scientific field
  • In depth knowledge the global health program development field, particularly maternal and newborn health; nutrition; cervical cancer; infectious disease
  • Strong programming, management and technical skills or background, in at least one of the following: maternal and newborn health; infectious disease; training and curriculum development; technology development and introduction; private sector engagement in global health
  • Self-directed and willingness to take initiative in problem-solving
  • Knowledge of international and USG donor agencies, implementing organizations, academia and private sector foundations
  • Comprehensive understanding of current global health players, data sources, literature resources
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in public health or related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing international health programs
