Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years experience in instructional design/technical writing for online user documentation
  • Mac OS X Server and server technologies experience required; system administration, programming, UNIX, and web technologies experience desirable
  • Strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication and project management skills

Description

Apple Product Documentation is looking for an experienced Instructional Designer who is innovative, technically proficient, and driven to produce high quality online and in-app documentation. Core Responsibilities: As an Instructional Designer in Apple Product Documentation, you will: • Develop content for software products that may have a high degree of technical complexity • Evaluate Apple products to determine user documentation requirements • Take a leadership role with cross-functional product marketing and engineering teams to define and coordinate project requirements and schedule of deliverables • Work with engineering teams to develop interface text • Work closely with engineering to implement the contextual help interface • Design and communicate instructional suite plans, determining appropriate media for product instruction • Work effectively with cross-functional Apple Product Documentation (APD) team to deliver product documentation • Research and analyze products to identify user tasks that require documentation • Write in a clear and economical style following established Apple guidelines • Effectively use APD authoring tools to develop content for onscreen help and other media • Build and submit onscreen help to engineering builds, test help builds, address bugs, and troubleshoot problems • Produce high quality documentation

Education

B.A./B.S. or M.A./M.S. in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Information Technologies, or Computer Science – or equivalent experience
