Position Summary:
Working in the Office of Public Affairs, the Multimedia Content Producer will develop and tell important University stories, showcase the work of faculty and the achievements of students through video, photography, writing and animation on the web, social media, and other platforms. The Multimedia Content Producer should be an exceptional story teller who is able to work independently to identify and develop good, interesting stories; to interview faculty, students, and administrators on sometimes complex subject matter; to enlist vendors for specialized story telling (such as animation); and to work under tight deadlines and produce content quickly. In producing content in various media, he or she should possess an appealing “voice,” but also remember that he or she will be representing the University, and thus must be able to work within NYU’s institutional expectations. The candidate should be able to carry out research for a story independently, and will be expected to look for connections between events and articles in the broader media landscape and happenings on campus for the purposes of developing pieces. The candidate should have technical skills sufficient to be able or to rapidly learn to be able to post pieces in digital domains and in a content management system.
Qualifications/Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or BFA
Preferred Education:
Required Experience:
2 years’ relevant advertising, marketing or journalism specific to social media, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:(include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):
Proficiency in end-to-end filmmaking, including pre-production, production (cinematography, lighting, audio production) , editing and video compression for the web. Experience with DSLR video production and workflow. Proficient in Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro. Knowledge of digital photography and CMS. Excellent organization, consultative, and verbal/written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:(include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):
Experience with HTML, CSS, After Effects or Motion.
