Full-Time Manager, Product Content – Quill (Lincolnshire,IL)

Job Description

The Manager of Content Management is a member of the Global Expert Center team and reports to the Director of Content Management. Reporting to this Manager will be the following team: Content Expert Team based in Quill.
This is a critical people leadership and business support role within the Global Merchandising organization. The Manager will be responsible for all product content across Quill, developing strategies and processes for product content and for technologies that directly improve the customers’ shopping experience. The associate in this role will partner with Category Management teams to increase sales in key product areas, and lead the development of tools and approaches that maximize online sales demand related to base level content creation.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide management support for the implementation and use of technologies that further enhance our ability to produce high quality content and deliver it to the business units faster
Provide management support to all related user acceptance testing
Act as business lead for all cross-functional discussions related to product content
Define and lead the thinking with our external supplier community related to category-specific strategies for creating product level content for enhanced product level presentation
Improve customers’ experience related to product content and drive consistency between Staples business units for base level product content
Define and execute strategies and processes for product content across Staples business units
Manage and develop standards for product content across all business units – this includes partnering with Category Management Teams, our supplier community, Marketing, Staples Business Delivery, Quill, US Retail and Advertising counterparts to identify operational synergies and opportunities to improve content
Create product content creation principles and category specific style guides
Ensure consistency in customer experience regarding product content
Leverage insights from vendors, industry research, Usability and cross-channel best practices
Determine a strategy for leveraging enhanced content to improve customers’ experience
Ensure consistency and alignment with category management and line of business initiatives
Deliver improvements to current CSAT key driver metrics for product content. Partner with Customer Satisfaction to understand customer needs in regards to content
Engage external supplier community on strategies to leverage their resources and customer research to support ongoing product content enhancements
Manage, develop and retain a talented and diverse core of people managers and individual contributor associate
Recruit, develop and retain people, managers and associates
Identify synergies between functions within team
Integrate geographically dispersed workload and business process
Ensure organizational resources are appropriately leveraged to support business needs
Conduct full performance appraisals and coaching for direct reports
The position will also be required to collaborate with, and influence many SBUs and functional areas in developing the end state processes
Assist in partnering with Category Management teams and external vendor community to increase sales in key product areas, and lead the development of tools and approaches that maximize online sales demand related to base level content creation
Support Sr. Manager in developing and working with relevant parties to implement new and more efficient processes for centralized item set-up and product content development, and interaction with merchandising and marketing processes

Qualifications

Basic
Bachelor’s Degree
8-10 years of Retail/Delivery merchandising experience
Preferred
Exceptional people leadership and communication skills. Proven manager with track record of people development, managing to and achieving/exceeding related sales, and sales impact-based workload prioritization
Proven leadership and project/process management skills with the ability to accomplish objectives through other people in a cross-functional matrix environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at multiple levels within the organization. Ability to influence others to provide information and make decisions to meet key deadlines
Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills with ability to derive business benefit from technical/systematic functionality
Experience in leading and developing associates
Strong interpersonal/relationship building skills
Advanced analytical skills, with exposure to customer shopping/buying research
Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel and PowerPoint
