Full-Time Junior Technical Writer (New York, NY)

Job Description

Mediaocean the acknowledged leader in systems and software for the advertising industry was created to give advertising agencies power over technology in a changing landscape by creating a global, open, and neutral operating system for the advertising business. What we need:

A successful candidate will be part of a global team, working in a fast-paced environment, responsible for all aspects of the Digital platform end-user documentation.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop user documentation (e.g., online help, user’s guides, release notes) to accompany Mediaocean software to agreed deadlines. This involves working with internal groups across multiple offices, identifying needs for documentation, information analysis, content design, and clear, effective writing.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects at one time, switching focus between projects as required to manage priorities.
  • Work to Mediaocean technical publications standards and style guidelines and ensure compliance with Mediaocean corporate quality and information security requirements.
  • Participate in developing the Mediaocean stylesheet and document format standards.
  • Support other technical writers as peer editor and proofreader.
  • Keep up to date on technical publications standards and trends, as well as Mediaocean business objectives and trends in the advertising industry.
  • Develop effective communication skills and play a constructive role at meetings.
  • Contribute to the usability, consistency, and effectiveness of user interfaces. This includes providing language for error messages and UI elements according to Mediaocean UI guidelines.
  • Support product teams and Client Service on internal project documentation (e.g., documentation on client-specific features, documentation on internal Mediaocean procedures).

What you’ll bring to the job:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, technical writing, computer science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in technical writing.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to absorb technical information quickly from a variety of sources and write clearly for a general business audience.
  • Ability to think analytically and conceptually, perform audience and content analysis, and understand the basics of structuring information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the  ability to  manage multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, but also be a team player.

What else we’d like to see:

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Minimum two years of DITA experience.
