Job Summary Under the direction of the Director of Multimodal Learning, this position provides design, development, management, and technical support to faculty and students utilizing educational technologies and digital media in online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses/programs. Collaboratively participates in the professional development and training of faculty in the use of instructional technologies, such as learning management system (LMS), web conferencing, lecture capture, digital asset production and management (images, video, audio), and presentation tools. Maintains professional competency in the use of emerging educational technologies, multimodal pedagogy, instructional design research, and universal design applications that address multiple learning styles and access abilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in educational technology, instructional design, education/curriculum development or related discipline from an accredited college/university or equivalent professional experience
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in instructional design or related field
  • Demonstrated experience and competence with instructional technologies, such as learning management system (LMS), web conferencing, lecture capture, digital asset production and management (images, video, audio), and presentation tools
  • Ability to conceive, design, and develop graphics and multimedia optimized for the web
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to diverse stakeholder groups: faculty, students, staff, and administrators
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple, complex, and demanding projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to accomplish tasks and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams to achieve project goals
  • Knowledge of emerging educational technologies, multimodal pedagogy, instructional design research, and universal design applications that address multiple learning styles and access abilities
  • Familiarity with usability/accessibility requirements and universal design principles for online learning to ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, and university policies and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience and competence creating graphics and interactive multimedia for instructional purposes, using development software such as Photoshop, Flash, Camtasia
  • Experience in higher education working directly with faculty as instructional designer, trainer, or professional development instructor
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs for small and large groups
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid academic courses at post-secondary level
Working Conditions The incumbent works primarily in an office environment and must be able to meet the physical demands of remaining at the work station for extended periods of time. The position requires a certain amount of mobility in order to retrieve files; attend meetings; respond to customers in person, on the phone and/or via email. Some amount of travel and/or evening/weekend work is required.

Job Duties Participate in Multimodal Learning team activities that may include: assisting faculty to design and develop online and hybrid courses/programs, recommending appropriate instructional technology tools designed to facilitate multimodal learning, fostering pedagogical best practices supported by research in the field, evaluating online courses utilizing quality assurance rubrics, participating in Multimodal Learning Community meetings.
Job Duties Develop and instruct training workshops and presentations for faculty, including both face-to-face and web-conference sessions for individuals and groups
Job Duties Participate in researching and documenting learning management system (LMS) tools, instructional technology solutions, and best practices for online/multimodal course design, instruction, and course management to recommend to faculty. Maintain and update current training tutorials and support information on the Online Learning web site.
Job Duties Serve as institutional administrator for digital asset management system: monitor and evaluate updates to the software, recommend and research enhancements for student and faculty use, test features in updates to determine bugs and functionality issues. Maintain list of digital asset management best practices based on established University business rules to recommend to faculty and departmental managers.
Job Duties Assist with faculty support calls and one-on-one appointments for issues related to the learning management system (LMS), digital asset management system, and other university-supported instructional technologies. Collaborate with Support Services to assist students and faculty when issues are escalated to the second tier. File support cases and track them until resolved. Compile and post functional issues and solutions and bring potential issues to the attention of leadership as they arise.
