Job Description

Global Sales Training Specialist – Instructional DesignerAs a member of the Global Online Display Advertising group, the Instructional Designer will be a key team member in a world-class advertising group. You will work closely with and across teams that span Sales, Marketing, Product, Program, Research, Human Resources and Senior Management in identifying and prioritizing training needs, solutions and strategies with a goal for continuous measurement and improvement. You will join a rapidly-growing team at an early stage in its development, and have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction for our training initiatives and events.

Specific functions are as follows:

  • Act as team “subject matter expert” on adult learning best practices to ensure that solutions developed by the team are relevant and effective
  • Support our desire to function at the “performance improvement” level rather than just training by partnering with role owners and utilizing survey and measure techniques and systematically identifying data that drives our performance improvement strategy.
  • Study our best performers to glean best practices in a systematic way so we can raise the bar for others through hiring guides and training
  • Develop training solutions (classroom, e-learning, job aids, checklists, mentoring, coaching) to support our curriculum maps to be developed by role owners
  • Work closely with leadership to drive buy-in and obtain executive sponsorship for readiness strategy
  • Support the development and implementation of competency models linked to a talent management process.
  • Evaluate programs and third-party partners for efficiency, effectiveness and return on Investment impact.
  • Project manage training and development activities to meet current and future business needs.
  • Consult on the new hire onboarding program and certification program to improve efficacy
Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on instructional design experience, proven skill at planning, developing and implementing learning and organizational development programs and facilitation.
  • Expert use of Captivate, Storyteller or other ELearning tools
  • Working knowledge of Cornerstone, the Learning Management System used by Amazon
  • Understanding of performance improvement methodology, adult learning, organizational development, and talent management.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, evaluating and negotiating with third party vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation skills
  • BS or BA in Education, Organizational Development, Business, Marketing, Advertising, Engineering or Computer Science or other applicable field

  • Exposure to sales roles and selling culture with its challenges and opportunities
  • Exposure to needs of international employees
  • Strong project management experience and attention to detail
  • Experience working with a fast-paced and geographically diverse Sales organization in the development and distribution of training activities.
  • Superior communication skills and clear customer focus
  • Entrepreneurial spirit / ability to try different things with minimal direction
  • MBA preferred but not required
