Responsibilities:
Interstate Batteries is looking for an Instructional Designer and Communications Specialist to define requirements and develop training material for distribution through internal online channels as well as through live, interactive sessions with Interstate Batteries personnel and field-based Distributors.  Market IQ, the Interstate Batteries sales, marketing and business intelligence program, serves our home office and our Distributors with best of breed technologies including Salesforce.com, MicroStrategies, Informatica and Esri in order to optimize Distributor sales and operations.  This is a key position, helping enhance / encourage adoption of new tools and processes that will enable Interstate Batteries’ aggressive growth plans and support hundreds of Distributors. 

What you’ll be doing:

 

The Instructional Design and Communications Specialist for Market IQ (MIQ) will lead adult-learning initiatives in support of Home Office and Distributor usage of MIQ tools.  This will include the development of training modules based on:

  • Identification of training needs and requirements necessary to deliver on business needs
  • Design and development of interactive training sessions, professional materials and blended solutions
  • Delivery of training sessions to both Home Office stakeholders to actual Distributor users
  • Ability to develop and deliver adult-learning concepts / material to a broad range of users ranging from highly-skilled early adopters to more reticent occasional computer users
  • Development of concise, impactful communications tailored to specific audience groups
  • Development and coordination of departmental communications and related project management

 

 

Qualifications:
What this position requires:

  • Bachelors degree required with 5 years of instructional design experience
  • Solid background in both Instructor Led and eLearning development
  • Ability to develop training programs that provide great learning and are visually exciting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated; works well in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Attention to detail in producing, writing, proofing all course materials to ensure consistency to standards
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate and Captivate
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

 

Ultimately, this person will develop and lead training for the Market IQ program while modeling Interstate Batteries’ core values to manifest a philosophy of “communication from Distributors/to Distributors”, increasing overall credibility of the MIQ toolset.  The target candidate must be comfortable in a dynamic, changing environment.  This candidate must be skilled in creating order within chaos and experienced in driving delivery to plan.
