Job Description

The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and maintaining user manuals, online help, release notes and other technical documentation consistent with MedAssets standards.Position Objectives: The Technical Writer is an independent performer who can work with subject-matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into help documentation intended for general audiences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Analyze business requirements to develop clear and accurate user documentation with minimal direction
Create and maintain user documentation of all types, using Adobe FrameMaker®, WebWorks ePublisher Pro®, and Adobe RoboHelp®
Independently manage multiple complex projects with overlapping deliverables and deadlines
Follow the style guide and other standards designated by MedAssets
Check for adherence to standards, correcting mistakes, making global changes, maintaining proper formatting, and performing quality assurance testing of online help
Effectively communicate with Technical Documentation team members and assigned development teams, maintaining good working relationships with all parties
Perform other activities as required and requested

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or General Communication or similarly related field
1+ years technical writing experience in hardware and software development; healthcare or similar technical environment a plus
Ability to create, maintain, and use templates for developing complex, single-sourced documentation using Adobe FrameMaker
Strong attention to detail
Strong grammar skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
Ability to independently manage projects and demanding deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Adobe RoboHelp and WebWorks ePublisher Pro
Some experience with healthcare or similar technical environment
Previous experience working in an agile programming environment
Experience working directly with development teams
