Description
We are looking for an exceptional Technical Writer III to write technical manuals and online help for flow cytometers used in medical research and disease diagnosis. The Technical Writer III is responsible for producing accurate, clearly presented, consistent customer product literature on time for product shipment. This position will collaborate with hardware and software engineers, research scientists, marketing managers, project managers, validation scientists, and regulatory professionals. On some projects this position may lead other writers to manage multi-document releases. Requires no instruction on day-to-day work, general instruction on new assignments; uses skills as seasoned, experienced professional with full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of five years’ experience as a technical writer
Minimum of two years’ experience writing for online help
Degree in a scientific or technical subject such as computer science or engineering
Technical writing certificate
Intermediate knowledge of graphics software such as Illustrator and Photoshop
Three years’ experience using Adobe FrameMaker to write technical product manuals
Experience writing documentation plans
Verbal communication skills that include responding calmly under pressure, offering clear solutions to complex problems, and leading discussions of process improvement
Experience creating print and search indexes
Experience working for an FDA regulated company
Experience using a variety of laboratory instruments, and an understanding of scientific experimentation and data analysis
The ability to structure complex information and write clearly
Strong project management skills and experience using Microsoft Project
Experience leading other writers in multi-book projects
Experience designing documentation sets
Strong knowledge of technical publications methods, trends, and technologies
Experience with concepts such as topic-based writing, information mapping, structured writing, content guides, conditional text, and single-sourcing
Lead writer, supervisory, or management experience
