Full-Time Technical Writer (Folsom, CA)
Job Description
Our client is a hugely popular computer components manufacturer seeking a candidate capable of providing Technical Writing, Testing, and Validation of applications.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Test and debug complex JavaScript applications
- Analyze XML and XHTML data files for problems affecting the applications
- Prepare clear, concise bug reports for other programmers and content owners
- Use version control (Tortoise SVN), automated builds (Cruise Control), and review process (Code Collaborator)
- Learn quickly and adapt to frequent changes in dynamic work environment
- Write scripts and utility programs needed to update and maintain the BSpec
- Create BSpec NDA specifications and update supplements
- Develop and update web pages
- Troubleshoot preproduction and production environment build and tool processing failures
- Troubleshoot processing failures in Cruise Control and Flare
- Assist in maintaining project and IP tagging
- Maintain and build Writer’s Group Servers and keep them operational
- Produce build and server metrics and reports
- Diagram and maintain equipment configurations
- Develop qualification checklist and Test Plans for tools candidates to determine readiness for the BSpec production environment
REQUIREMENTS
- 6-8 years of related work experience
- Microsoft Word, documentation experience, editing / writing experience, Java scripting, DOT.net plus
- Extensive HTML / CSS and XML (troubleshooting, editing, creating, etc.)
- Experience writing and troubleshooting DOS batch (.bat) and Ruby scripts
- Extensive experience using command line (Windows / Linux) tools
- Extensive experience working with technologies such as Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2003 / 2008, Remote Desktop / Terminal Services, IIS, Apache, Active Directory, etc.
- Prior experience debugging and testing web and/or standalone applications
- Prior experience with ‘single source’ documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Robohelp
- Must be proficient using the entire Microsoft Office 2010 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Prior experience with version control software (SVN) in relation to documentation projects
- Experience writing software qualification test plans
- Some networking knowledge helpful (Windows Server 2003 / 2008)
