Full-Time Technical Writer 1 (Reston, VA)
Job Description
The Technical Writer will report to the Director of Quality Assurance within the Technology group and is responsible for the research, authoring, and maintenance of requirements, support and user documentation to be presented in various formats (Word, Power Point, Wiki pages, etc…)
This position will work closely with the Development team, Business Owners and SMEs (subject Matter Experts) to document requirements, procedures and related content, including the translation of technical specifications into easy to read instructions and user manuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interview and gather information from technical resources to create documentation of new and existing systems
- Develop documentation that can be used by individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge
- Maintain documentation on internal wiki site
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field
- 1+ year of experience in Technical Writing/Editing or related work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interviewing, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work closely in a collaborative role with other team members of carrying levels of technical expertise
- Experience working with geographically disparate teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using MS Office products and Visio
- Experience with wiki sites and web based content
- Experience writing technical user manuals a PLUS
