Freelance Technical Documentation Writer

BlazeMeter – Posted by oprusak Anywhere

Job Description

BlazeMeter.com is undergoing a project to update ALL of our online technical documentation as well as create new documentation for future products.

We are looking for a highly skilled individual with proven experience creating product documentation and explaining technical subject matter.

BlazeMeter provides performance testing as a service, so basic Internet IT knowledge is mandatory. You must know what HTTP is, how a browser works, how cookies work, the ability to read HTML code, etc.

Experience with performance testing = big plus
Degree in computer science = super bug plus

Being able to solve problems on your own is crucial. We’re looking for someone we can provide a high-level explanation of what we need and they will run with it. Of course questions will come up, but they shouldn’t stop you.

Your written work should be impeccable. I don’t want to hire an english editor to fix tour work.

You can assume Skype & email communication will available as needed.

Our needs are long term as we have plenty of work for the few months, but in order to find the right person, we’ll start with a small mini-project to make sure we’re a good fit for each other.

** Here are the requirements for the mini-project **

Assume you were going to create BlazeMeter’s documentation from scratch. The target audience are techies (developers, devops, architects) who are very knowledgeable in computer science, but do not necessarily have any experience with performance testing.

You need to create an outline for the documentation. This should be similar to what you’d see in a books table of contents, but with one sentence describing each section. The breakdown should have two levels of Hierarchy.

In terms of work, I’m assuming 2-4 hours of time familiarizing yourself with BlazeMeter.com and then about 1 hour creating the outline.
