We are looking for a senior content specialist to develop, optimize and refine content in the area of consumer-facing legal news, information, and analysis. This position will be based on our Sunnyvale, CA office. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities
– Write original legal information content of interest to consumer audiences, under the direction of a team lead, including:
– Research consumer legal topics using multiple primary and secondary sources;
– Review legal information content for legal accuracy, misstatements of the law, and online usability;
– Correct content for style, grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
– Work with team lead and/or senior editors to constantly refine and improve content creation style; and
– Work with FindLaw Digital Content & Social Media Team to optimize content using best practices in tagging, keyword usage, headline creation, content optimization and basic SEO. [65%]
– Assist team lead in content production and editing tasks as needed, including topic sourcing, copyediting, content performance analysis, and database maintenance. This also includes:
– Monitor content feeds and make updates to spreadsheets, databases, and other related content repositories as needed;
– Track content performance using multiple measures (e.g., traffic, engagement, conversion) and use performance measures to constantly refine content style and improve content performance;
– Identify opportunities for process improvement and writer skill development;
– Constantly update and refine content standards for process, editing, and messaging. [20%]
– Assist team lead in facilitating new content roll-out schedules, and ongoing management of existing consumer content, as needed. [15%]

Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
– JD required
Experience
– 2+ years of professional online media experience required
– Professional legal practice experience a plus, but not required
Knowledge and Skills
– Excellent writing and reporting skills, with ability to write in a conversational tone and demonstrated ability to successfully write for the web, including experience writing for lay audiences
– Basic understanding of HTML and SEO
– Internet savvy with experience using social media tools such as blogs, message boards, social networks, microblogging, social bookmarking and/or social sharing

– Has an interest in writing about legal topics for consumer audiences, and following legal news and developments.
