Job Description Summary:
To assist and support the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) faculty in the conceptualization, design, and development of courses and course materials using appropriate teaching strategies, instructional design theories, and instructional technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education (or related field) with coursework in Adult Learning, Course Design and Assessment, Instructional Design, Instructional Technologies.
At least five years of instructional design experience.
Previous experience working with faculty in higher education, preferably some in medical education.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Familiarity with Blackboard, interactive media, course design software, and iPad use in education.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with the Quality Matters course design rubric.
Familiarity with WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards.
Experience with educational research projects.

Job Duties
Function:
Guide and support SMHS faculty in developing and/or revising courses that are designed to ensure students meet measurable learning objectives, use active learning methods, use reflective self-assessment, and effectively use technology and online media.
Function:
Maintain a high degree of knowledge in existing and emerging methods including instructional design theories and innovations in hardware, software, and internet technologies; assess and envision how these methods can be applied to SMHS course development effectively.
Function:
Assist in designing, developing, and delivering workshops and training sessions to faculty and professional staff on instructional design and technology topics.
Function:
Develop online documentation, materials, and tutorials supporting instructional design principles and practices, ensuring that instructional activities link with stated learning objectives and practical applications.
Function:
Coordinate faculty in instructional development projects, ensuring project deadlines are met. Provide troubleshooting assistance and consultations.
