Full-Time Director Global Documentation (Location Independent)
Job Description
Global Documentation Manager – Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage global DTP teams
- Lead by example and hands on DTP on larger complex FrameMaker related opps
- Coordinate and source FM, XML training engagements through subcontractor trainer resources or internal
- Train, guide and mentor DTP and other staff to become best of breed in industry
- Recruit, hire and train new DTP/Documentation staff as needed
- Conduct weekly and monthly meeting and perform yearly performance reviews
- Coordinate with other areas of production (Sales, Project Management, Engineering, etc.) for scheduling, workflow, pipeline, management, etc
- Identify additional opportunities for training and certification for all Documentation Staff
- Coordinate & Support Sales/Marketing with new client engagements and consulting to engage and win new business related to Documentation localization opportunities
- Review certain documentation quotes for completeness and accuracy – mainly FM, XML related training or migration quotes
- Provide cross-functional training to other staff (PMs, DTP, etc.)
- Participate in weekly and monthly Management and Production Meetings
- Review, purchase and configure new documentation software as needed
- Attend local networking events and actively recruit business contacts for GPI – serve as main contact to Adobe and other documentation partners
- Attend conventions, trade shows, and client sales opportunities as a representative of GPI in order to secure new business – expenses to be reimbursed by GPI
- Assist management in any writing tasks including articles, training, white papers, web content, related to DTP topics, etc…
- Write blogs on various DTP topics
Fulltime work from home-based position. Looking for the next step in your technical writing – desktop publishing career. Salary depends on experience.
