Full-Time Technical Writer III (Irvine, CA)

Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding technical writer to help us deliver documentation for new APIs for the Amazon Developer community. As a technical writer in the group, you will be responsible for the creation of technical documentation for the Distribution Portal, as well as work on documentation for our APIs and streamline them for a uniform look-and-feel. This documentation includes creating conceptual overviews, developer guides, detailed API documentation, and sample code. Your documentation will be used by external app developers and business owners. To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable creating and documenting code written in Java or C++ and be well versed in web services (such as REST or SOAP).
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience delivering developer-oriented technical documentation for a platform.
  • Experience writing documentation for APIs, SDKs, components, and tools.
  • You should also be comfortable creating sample code and applications that demonstrate individual components of the system, and share this information with others.
  • Be familiar with open source doc models like DocBook or DITA,
  • Experience applying XSLT transformations to HTML.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio or Eclipse and version control tools is desired.
