What You’ll Do/Need
Our Technical Writers produce online and written material for software that will be used by Quicken Loans end users and technology team members.  They work with various Technology teams in order to deliver the online and print documentation, application designs, training materials, and end user materials (e.g. application functionality and features). Periodically, the technical writer will help the Quality Assurance team build test cases and test scripts based on functional specification and application design. 

Responsibilities

  • Improve documentation, quality, process, productivity, and presentation of QL projects
  • Create a centralized documentation repository
  • Contribute to the creation of project documentation on the internal QL websites
  • Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities
  • Combine technical materials from different sources to produce coherent user documentation
  • Interview programmers, engineers, developers, and other technical personnel to become familiar with technology and development methods
  • Review and test software and hardware for accuracy and consistency with documentation
  • Review and revise previously created documentation

Requirements

  • Experience as a business analyst or proven work in programming (preferred)
  • Experience working the software development life cycle and engineering processes
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent creative and technical writing, editing and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of leading documentation tools, with experience in preparing online and print documentation for users of software products
  • Experience with various graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Strong familiarity with UML
