Description

Put your years of experience into a future of excellence…The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s team to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Passenger Systems Program Office (PSPO) suite of computer and automated software applications. CBP PSPO supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the CBP mission of securing our borders while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.

Northrop Grumman Information Systems is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The candidate writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.

The qualified applicant must be able to:
• Work with multiple production and development environments including legacy mainframe/COBOL as well as Java JEE technologies.
• Support an agile development lifecycle.
• Conduct quality review of materials.
• Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
• Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
• All work will be performed on site at CBP offices in Northern Virginia. Some local travel to various CBP sites may be required.
• Travel to sites outside the Washington DC area may be required.

This position is contingent upon customer approval.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years experience.
• Must be able to obtain a DHS/CBP security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
• Have an active DHS/CBP security clearance.
• Prior experience with CBP desired.
