As a member of the Solutions Design and Development team, the Instructional Designer is an entry-level position for those who possess knowledge or experience in traditional instructional design concepts as well as strong writing skills and business knowledge. Under the supervision of a Manager/Director, the Instructional Designer develops training materials, updates existing curriculum, designs solutions, and ensures such solutions are accurate and timely.

Primary Responsibilities

Instructional Design
Applies knowledge of adult education principles and practices to produce learning deliverables
Produces clear and readable training solutions using acceptable standards of practice for instructional design and writing
Writes content for at least one solution type and looks for opportunities to cross-train on other solutions
Works closely with the business to identify solutions for single, short-term or moderately complex initiatives
Researches to leverage existing content for new initiatives
Adapts or develops content into organized deliverables
Adheres to design set forth in a design document
Assists in creating design documents or creates design documents for simple initiatives
Adheres to internal standards for instructional design and development
Makes edits to update existing documents, job aids, and curriculums
Works effectively with team leaders and managers from the business, performance consultants, technical specialists, subject matter experts, project managers, facilitators, and other instructional designers to design and develop training
Adheres to the ADDIE Model
Project Management
Manages individual assignments with appropriate level of supervision and support
Updates resourcing tool to provide status on existing projects
Provides content development timelines to project manager and/or performance consultant upon request
Manages and escalates open issues, which may arise during the development process
In partnership with facilitators and designers, participates in pilot and train-the-trainer events
Business Knowledge

Demonstrates ability to navigate both the L&D and WI organization
Develops a network of contacts that help yield targeted results

Qualifications

Education and Experience
2-4 years of instructional design experience in a corporate setting preferred
Basic knowledge of adult education principles or instructional design
Undergraduate or graduate degree in instructional design preferred
Skills and Knowledge
Proven experience in writing or business communications
Ability to multi-task and manage own workload
Flexibility in the face of changing priorities
