Full-Time Data Analyst – Content Management (Seattle, WA)

Job Description

This new team is responsible for not only developing content strategy but also applying iterative product development to rapidly test and measure the effects of content to help evolve Groupon from daily deals to destination.  Key decisions include user generated and third-party contents’ roles and SEO/SEM considerations.  The team would oversee content for all channels including email, website, and mobile.
Responsibilities:

  • Track KPIs for content of Groupons, as well as other KPIs to support the consumer web team
  • Identify insights from data and suggest actionable tests and improvements
  • Find key levers that drive consumer behavior
  • Build analytics dashboard to provide easy access to operational reports
  • Write SQL queries to retrieve data for analysis from our MySQL OLTP and Teradata OLAP datastores
  • Analyze data from Google Analytics; internal tools (web & mobile tracking, email tracking, A/B testing); Salesforce.com; Zendesk; and server logs.
  • Correlate data from multiple sources
  • Work with developers to determine additional instrumentation and tracking needs
  • Use Excel and web-based tools to analyze and present data
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve issues with data: if we think we can’t get something, figure out how and impress everyone

Basic Qualifications

  • Track KPIs for content of Groupons, as well as other KPIs to support the consumer web team

  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Excellent Excel skills (you love pivot tables)
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one scripting language (extra points for Ruby)
  • Ability to present complicated data and models simply and beautifully
  • Understanding of how web applications work
  • Degree in a quantitative discipline, like mathematics, statistics, economics, or CS (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of professional experience with data analytics
  • Agile (Scrum) development experience
  • Inclination to take take smart, informed risks and lean into problems and their solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a simple, easy-to-understand way

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past experience with Splunk
  • Past experience with Teradata
  • Past experience with Microstrategy 9
  • Experience with application instrumentation and A/B testing
  • Proactive ability to get things done with a small team
  • Love working in a fast paced environment
  • Thrives working on multiple projects and cross-functional teams
  • Can MacGyver solutions with a ball point pen, a stick of gum, and small bits of code
