Full-Time Associate Content Editor – Slideshare (San Francisco, CA)

Job Description

SlideShare, a LinkedIn company and the world’s largest community for sharing presentations, is looking for an Associate Content Editor. This person will assist with all editorial and social media/community outreach initiatives, helping drive engagement among SlideShare’s community of users and creating an awesome experience.

SlideShare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations. With over 60 million monthly visitors and 130 million page views, it is one of the top 150 websites in the world. SlideShare started in 2006 to support documents, podcasts, webinars, professional videos, web meetings, and powerpoints.  SlideShare has offices in San Francisco and New Delhi.   In the San Francisco office, we have about 21 people on the team, growing to about 30 people by the end of the year and 83 overall including our New Delhi office.  Our mission is to “share what we love.”

What You Will Do:
-Work closely with Product Managers to write and edit copy for the site
-Write and edit posts for the SlideShare blog and newsletter
-Promote SlideShare content on social media and other outlets
-Build, engage and spur a strong and active SlideShare community
-Curate content for the homepage and verticals pages
-Help create and manage an editorial calendar
-Develop and maintain FAQ guides

Who you are:
-1-4 years experience in an editorial and/or copy writing role
-Extremely strong writing, editing and editorial-judgment skills, including a sharp eye for grammar, good headlines and a great story
-Comfortable working in a techy environment and translating technical concepts to language everyone else can understand
-A flair for managing social media channels and online communities
-Great communication skills: The ability to reach out to and interact with users, influencers, our engineers and others
-Experience working with online content and social media management tools, and basic knowledge of HTML
-Lots of ideas, self-motivation and energy
-A startup mentality and ability to adapt to and take on different roles
-Good design skills are a plus, as is marketing experience and if you are a product person with a flair for writing or a writer with a passion for product….EVEN BETTER!
