We have a solid base of business units that are all growing. In this role, as a member of the IT Infrastructure team, you will support 19 different business lines including a national real estate brokerage company, mortgage origination, and mortgage servicing and property management. This is a high visibility position where you will have the chance to work directly with business leaders to learn about their challenges and design solutions.

Position Summary:

With minimal supervision & direction from the CTO, the Technical Writer will be responsible for writing/documenting end-user guides for technology applications, and development of end-user help files, application user tips, to be integrated within the application by the IT Application Development teams. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for gathering information, designing and documenting application end-user guides. Ensure all aspects of the business process and application functionality are clearly documented and conveyed in an easily understood, non-technical end-user perspective.
  • Gain expert knowledge of the operational applications and utilization within the business process.
  • Acts as the primary contact for all technology documentation.
  • May provide input to application improvements.
  • Participates in training materials and business procedures/documentation as needed.
  • Responsible for testing documentation with end-users to ensure accuracy, completeness and usability. May help support business user applications training as needed.

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to formulate questions to obtain information necessary for documenting policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand the business sufficiently to develop and document requirements and processes.
  • Ability to orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications of limited scope or impact, etc., and/or to make informal and formal presentations inside and outside the immediate work area
  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside the immediate work unit
  • Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints
  • Ability to interact with Senior Management as an advisor on projects, and to act as a spokesperson on the documentation methodology
  • Proficient in the Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Excel, World, Visio, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Experience with help file tools and applications, such as Adobe RoboHelp or other applications to create .CHM or HTML help files.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and business/applications analysis.
  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services
  • Ability to work in a project environment and have awareness of the application development lifecycle

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Four plus years of experience as Technical Writer.
  • Mortgage, finance or realty services industry experience preferred
