Contract \ Contract-to-Hire Technical Writer (Contract)
Job Description
We are hiring a full-time technical writer for a 3-6 month contract to work onsite at our client’s facility near Southborough, MA.
Description of Work:
The contract technical writer will perform the following:
– Plan, design, write, and edit a range of user documentation (internal and external) for print and online media, including: procedures and processes, training, and quick reference materials
– Develop documentation project plans and timelines
– Collaborate with project staff to collect and interpret technical information
– Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards, including style and terminology guidelines
– Maintain currency and accuracy of all documentation
Skills and Experience Needed:
– Current experience as a technical writer
– Exceptional written and oral communication skills
– Superior attention to detail
– Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and interviewing skills
– Expertise with Microsoft Word including template design
– Experience with Adobe Technical Communication Suite (FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Acrobat Pro) and/or MadCap Flare
– Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, with specific experience in documenting procedures, policies, and processes
– Strong understanding of document formatting and presentation techniques
– Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles
– Ability to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information
– Ability to analyze target audience and to present ideas in user-friendly language
– Able to work under challenging deadlines and be accountable for completing work within specified time frames
– Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to prioritize work, multi-task and coordinate timelines and schedules
– Able to work independently
Rate: Depends on Experience (DOE)
Duration: Full-time hours for 3-6 months (with possibility of extension)
Location: Onsite at our client’s facility near Southborough, MA. Offsite, remote, or telecommuting is not permitted. Local candidates only. No C2C.
