Hypertherm’s Technical Publications team is looking for its new greatest addition. Is that you? If it is, keep reading.

We are looking for a Sr. Technical Writer who is passionate about Technical Communications and technology; someone who possesses a high degree of literary skill and technical proficiency to transform engineering concepts and processes into consumer-oriented publications.

You should be proficient at managing technical writing projects from beginning to end, play well with your customers and teammates, be proactive, follow our style guides, and, like the rest of us, figure out how to improve what we do, constantly. Other responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to, taking photos, working on illustrations, and keeping organized project files and information.

Everything our team creates gets translated into 15+ languages, therefore, experience dealing with translation-oriented environment is highly desired.

Responsibilities
• Gather resource material including specifications, schematics, technical presentations, original models, drawings, photography, first-hand observation, and the information in the Engineer’s head, and transform it into effective, usable product documentation for Hypertherm Customers
• Write, publish and maintain high-quality documentation and online content, and ensure material is accessible to customers
• Manage the production, publishing, and localization hand-off of your documentation
• Participate in all aspects of documentation development, from product planning through product release
• Represent Technical Publications’ interests to internal customers

Minimum requirements
• BA or BS degree
• Electrical/mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Effective project management skills including planning and estimating project completion
• Ability to communicate complex concepts both visually and in words
• Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Motivated to work independently and as part of a collaborative cross-functional team
• Comfortable using authoring tools, such as Adobe FrameMaker, Robohelp, AuthorIT, Flare, Adobe Acrobat, CS5, and MS Office
• This is an on-site position in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Preferred requirements (that will make you stand out from the crowd)
• Experience with metal cutting technology, manufacturing automation, or other complex industrial products.
• Strong project management skills including planning and estimating project completion
• Ability to read wiring diagrams
• Passion for learning and technology
• Experience in new media for information delivery (mobile formats, wikis, knowledge bases, web-delivered online-help)
• Proficient skills in the authoring platforms mentioned above
