JOB DETAILS:
SonicWALL Engineering is looking for an exceptional Senior Technical Writer responsible for developing and maintaining technical content to support multiple SonicWALL product lines: Network Security, Backup and Recovery, Secure Remote Access, Management and Reporting, and End-Point Security Solutions. Specific responsibilities include planning document deliverables and Help for new products and features, participating in feature design meetings, tracking and reporting on user-visible product changes, developing documentation for new products and features, and maintaining existing documentation for ongoing releases. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly, including conceptual information and procedural instructions
  • Work in a modular fashion to ensure all product features are documented within a tight deadline
  • Create accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content
  • Collaborate effectively with globally-distributed product teams to gather information, get technical review of content drafts, and communicate product documentation requirements and schedules
  • Deliver all content on schedule and to a high degree of quality
  • Put strong emphasis on performing content reviews and self-edits
  • Use the product and create high-level task-based outlines for administrator and user guides
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Training and Localization teams on planning and executing joint strategic milestones

Qualifications:

  • Must be independent, self-driven, respectful, responsible, collaborative, results driven, organized, passionate, and innovative
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Adobe Technical Communication tools (FrameMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Captivate, and Robohelp)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of mobile website design principles a plus and experience in mobile technologies a plus
  • Knowledge of XML-based content development tools
  • Familiarity with the Agile development process a plus
  • Experience creating documentation for other website building tools a plus
  • Ability to set up technical environments (use QA tools) to run on client’s products
Experience & Education:
  • BS degree in Computer/Engineering, Technical Communications or similar degrees
  • 5+ years as a content developer with strong Technical Writing experience
  • 5+ years expertise with SharePoint web parts and ASP.net
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience using the industry’s highest standards/methods for technical publishing (XML-based, topic-based, task-based, and single-sourcing)
  • 5+ years’ experience writing content that supports localization needs
