Full-Time Senior Technical Writer
Job Description
As ZL Technologies’ full-time Senior Technical Writer, you would work closely with developers, product managers, testers, and user experience experts to document a variety of software-related topics. We’re looking for an adaptable technical writer who learns quickly, communicates clearly, and enjoys working with smart people and new generation Big Data technology.
Duties:
¬ Produce technical documentation for Big Data software applications, platform development, and other technologies
¬ Manage complete documentation process from initial outline to final publication (both print and context-sensitive online help)
¬ Help to define clear documentation templates and processes
¬ Establish specific style conventions and consensus in order to maintain consistency across documents
¬ Apply appropriate paragraph styles to generate both print and online output from a single-source document
¬ Update existing technical product documentation
¬ Produce white papers, case studies, descriptions of best practices, knowledge base articles, and technical presentations
¬ Contribute and create content for training manuals and instructional videos
¬ Provide feedback on our user interfaces regarding their consistency and ease-of-use
Requirements:
¬ 3+ years technical writing experience in the enterprise software industry
¬ Highly motivated with the ability to learn complex software quickly
¬ Strong verbal and written communication skills
¬ Ability to organize materials and complete writing assignments according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
¬ Extensive knowledge of and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, and Confluence (or some other wiki-style content platform)
¬ Knowledge of and experience with one or more help authoring tools (HATs)–Adobe RoboHelp, Author-It, MadCap Flare, Doc-to-Help, and so on–specifically in terms of preparing context-sensitive online help menus
¬ Four-year degree required
¬ Engineering background or similar
¬ Experience in enterprise data management
¬ Familiarity with Adobe Captivate
