Contract \ Contract-to-Hire Contract Technical Writer (Torrance, CA)
Job Description
We are looking for a Contract Technical Writer to work on a documentation project for our client in Torrance, CA.
Description of Work:
– Document hardware products with software interfaces
– Create, write, edit, and deliver user manuals, installation guides, service guides, drawing packs (assembled from multiple existing drawings), and maybe some training materials
– Schedule and lead draft review meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Skills and Experience Needed:
– At least 5 years of current technical writing experience as a Technical Writer
– Exceptional written and oral communication skills
– Superior attention to detail and organization skills
– Proficient experience with Adobe FrameMaker
– Experience documenting hardware products with software interfaces
– Experience with screen capture tool (GIMP, SnagIt, etc.) as well as basic photography skills
– Hands-on technical writing experience
– Ability to interview Subject Matters Experts (SMEs) and extract pertinent information
– Ability to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information
– Ability to analyze target audience and to present ideas in user-friendly language
– Able to work under challenging deadlines and be accountable for completing work within specified time frames
– Strong planning skills with the ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and coordinate timelines and schedules
– Ability to self-manage and work independently
Tools Supplied By Client:
– Desk with a PC and all the necessary software
– Access to SMEs and products
Rate: $45/hr on W2
Duration: Full-time for 3 months
Location: Onsite at our client’s facility in Torrance, CA. Local candidates only.
Requirements: Background check and drug test
